In a candlelit appraiser's shop, an old appraiser opens an item that trails purple smoke while an armored knight looks on

Nothing is yours until you bring it back.

The Rule

The deeper you go, the better the loot. But what you pick up is not yours until you carry it back to town.

Battles fight themselves. What you decide is whether to drink a potion, whether to go one floor deeper, and what to pack for the way home. One more floor, or turn back here. Gravemark is a game about that single moment of judgment.

One Descent

How a single run unfolds.

  1. Descend

Choose a difficulty and a dungeon, load your belt with potions, and go down.

  2. Battle

Attacks are automatic. You touch only skills and potions. Mana does not come back on its own.

  3. Loot time

Time stops after every kill. Decide what goes into your 5×6 bag for the trip home.

  4. The fork

Two paths. An enemy, a Spring or, rarely, a Gravemark. This is also where you retreat.

  5. Identify

What you bring back stays unknown until it is opened in town.

Die, and you lose it.

Everything in your bag, the gold you found on that run, and any gear you put on along the way. What you equipped in town and everything in your stash stay safe.

The Choice

One more floor, or head home.

You can see how hard each hit lands
Every path card shows how much a single hit from that enemy will cost you, and which gear slots it tends to drop. Weigh it against the HP you have left.
A Spring heals you, at a price
It restores all your HP, but that floor does not count toward your depth. It is the choice to set greed aside and stay alive.
Deeper pays better
The chance of Epic or better rises the deeper you go. The current multiplier is always on screen.

Relics

Relics. One of a kind, each with a name.

A tier above Legendary. Each Relic has its own name and art, and every one carries a price. On shallow floors, nothing even hints that they exist.
